Many Congratulations to BGT Winner Richard Jones ‘Magician’

Many congratulations to my good friend and fellow Magician, Richard Jones, who having performed superbly during the heats and semi final of BGT ( for which I was honoured to be a very small part of his team of advisors), appeared live on Saturday for the final.

For those of you who are unaware, Richard is a serving member of the Armed Forces and is attached to the Household Cavalry, and he performed an act themed on the story of one of his mentors of magic, Fergus Anckorn who, when a POW in Japan, used magic to both boost the morale of his captured colleagues, and also performed to the Japanese guards to get extra rations and to help to improve the conditions of his fellow prisoners. Fergus, now 97 years old,  regularly  attends The Magic Circle on a Monday evening, and in a culmination to his act, Fergus joined Richard on the stage, to the sound of the Household Cavalry Band who also joined them on stage.

Richards act was wonderfully routined, beautifully performed and was full of emotion. Who could possibly ask for more? Britain’s public seemed to agree and he thoroughly deserved to win and to top it all is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet – I salute you Sir!
