I have been a fan of the London Marathon since it’s inaugural race in 1981, and even managed to complete the course as a competitor in 1988 in a time of 4 hours 26 minutes, when I was so much younger and fitter than I am now. On Wednesday, I was delighted to be invited to the unveiling of a Blue Plaque celebrating the first ever meeting of what was to become The Magic Circle.
