Catching up with Fergus, Michael and Richard at The Magic Circle

I try and go  up to The Magic Circle every Monday and  meet up with friends and fellow magicians, some of whom, like me pop in every week and others we see from time to time. Last Monday was spent catching up with those I hadn’t seen there for a while.

Firsty I had a wonderful conversation with Fergus Anckorn, who at a spritely 97 years if age is still attends most weeks, about a book I am reading about the moment, written by Peter Fyans, about Fergus’s life, both as a magician and also the time he spent as a Japanese POW. The book is extremely well written in the first person and is very gripping. Following Fergus appearance with Richard Jones on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’(see previous post) the book has sold out, however, I am told that it is being reprinted in paperback and is due out shortly. It is a fantastic ‘warts and all’ story, and one which I can thoroughly recommend

Nigel has been a member since about 2011, and his interest in magic was sparked following a crash in 2010 during the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race which left Nigel suffering from concussion, and he took to magic to assist with aiding his memory. Always lovely to chat with Nigel, and a shame he is unable to attend more often

I am looking forward to seeing Richard perform, with three of my colleagues who were instrumental in helping Richard with the routine he performed in the final. Richard joins the ‘Impossible Show’ which is running at the Noel Coward Theatre in London from the 1st July to the end of August. We have already got our tickets.
